On 2nd February 2010 we said goodbye to our beloved Sasha.
Sasha was born on 3rd April 2001. She was one of 11 puppies by CH Pajanbeck Prince of Thieves JW x CH Deep River Walk of Downstream.
She was one of the cleverest bitches we have had. Opening doors and gates was too easy! However, she was a lovely bitch to live with and never raised her voice in anger. She was also incredibly greedy - all food had to be kept well out of reach or that was the last we saw of it.
As a show bitch she was successful, although overshadowed by her mother, her sister (Ch Downstream Revisited to Tacumshin) and later by her daughter - CH Downstream Destiny's Child JW. She was also hampered by the fact that she didn't always choose to behave herself. Her "Do's" became legendary amongst our friends.
However, she did gain her full title in June 2007 at Border Union after which she was only lightly shown. Her last show was in Veteran at Manchester 2010 - just 10 days before her death.
She had 2 litters. The first by CH Lhaxy's Yatzy at Exclyst which yielded 10 puppies - including Destiny's Child. Then we used Ch Riversflight Marilng to Pajanbeck by AI which produced 7 puppies - including Poetic Licence (Joy), Paperchase (Chase) and Prime Suspect (Ash). A wonderful producer and even better mother she did us proud.
All her life she had never been ill, or sick or even remotely off colour. The day before she died both Shirley and I thought she was not looking her normal self. We made her an appointment to see the vet the next day. On examination it was discovered she had a spleenic tumour which had ruptured. She also had extensive secondaries in her stomach. We made the very painful decision not to bring her round.
It is very quiet here without her as she always made her presence felt. However she will always be remembered for the lovely girl she was and the wonderful legacy she left us.
Rest in peace "Beautiful Sash"
