We are all Championship Show judges for Flatcoated.Retrievers, although Shirley has now officially retired. Peter is also an A Panel Field Trial Judge (the only Flatcoat Judge in the UK alive to hold dual status).

Peter's Championship Show judging career began in 1977 when he officiated at the United Retriever Championship Show. He judged the first Championship Show run by the Flatcoated Retriever Club of Scotland and has judged at the FCRS breed show 3 times. In 1996 he judged bitches at Crufts. He has judged in Scandinavia and Europe and in 2000 judged the American Speciality in Kentucky.

He became an A Panel Field Trial judge in the 1980s. At this time only the Late Hon Amelia Jessel and the late Dr Nancy Laughton were "Dual As".

Shirley's Championship Show judging career began in 1980. She has also judged the FCRS Breed Show 3 times - and officiated at Crufts in 2001. Her international judging also saw many trips to Scandinavia and Europe including judging dogs at the World Show in Belguim in 1995.

I awarded my first set of CCs in 2002 and had the honour of judging the FCRS Ch Show in 2007. Internationally I have judged in Scandinavia - including the Norwegian Winners Show in 2008, and Europe.

I also award CCs in Curly Coated Retrievers, Irish Water Spaniels and Large Munsterlanders. I am a candidate on the Kennel Club Judges Development Programme and have JDP Credits in Labradors, Tollers, Chesapeake Bays, German Short Haired Pointers, Italian Spinones, Brittanys, English Springers, Welsh Springers, Sussex Spaniels, Field Spaniels, Hungarian Wire Haired Vizslas, Pointers and English Setters.

Today - 2nd March 2011 - I received confirmation that the Kennel Club have passed me to judge the Gundog Group at Championship Show level. My first such appointment will be at the Boston Ch Show in January 2012. Thank You to Pat Dufty and her committee for affording me this wonderful oppportunity and to the NGA for running the Judges Development Programme which teaches us so well.
